ソロモン・Ｒ・グッゲンハイム財団によるフィンランド・ヘルシンキに位置する美術館。海と公園に挟まれた敷地に、両者の延長となる曖昧な空間をつくる。森のようでもあり海のようでもある、フィンランドのオーロラの空を反映した静かに佇むその存在は、通りゆく人々を魅惑し、吸い込む妖艶さも併せ持つ。その滑らかな構造は現地の木を使って表現。１つに連なった展示室を立体的にぐるりと回って内部を観覧する。オーロラのように揺蕩う柔らかい空間は、空にも森にも海にも近く、それらの存在は各々の要素を溶け込ませ、展示室を行き来する間にも垣間見られ堪能できる。ヘルシンキの海辺という場所の特性を活かし、アートと人々が混じり合うノードとなる。

The art museum in Helsinki, Finland by the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation features an ambiguous space on site between the sea and park, serving as an extension to both. It is like a forest and the sea. Its quiet presence reflects the Aurora Borealis in Finland, fascinating spectators passing by and bewitching those that visit it. The smooth structure is expressed using local timber. Going through the three exhibition spaces, the interior possesses a softness that flows like an aurora close to the sky, the forest and the sea. Their existence blends with each element, allowing a glimpse as you go back and forth between the exhibition rooms. Utilising the location of Helsinki’s seaside, the area becomes a node where art and people entwine.
